Inter School Robotics Challenge(IRC 2013-14)
A grand celebration of innovation and ingenuity was witnessed during the Inter-School Robotics Challenge 2013 which was organised in association with Building Blocks Learning Solutions Pvt. Ltd. on December 24, 2013. Over 42 teams from 20 schools of West Delhi participated in the events such as Rescue on Mountains (IV-VII), Rescue on Mountains and on Rivers (VIII-IX) and Self-Learning Rescue Robot (X-XII) where students got an opportunity to create unique Robotic designs.
Class XII Farewell
To bid adieu to the outgoing Class XII students, a Farewell Dance Party and lunch was organised on January 30, 2014. It was a nostalgic time for students who were emotionally charged while saying good bye and good luck to their friends.
Investiture of OBBA
The investiture ceremony for Old Bal Bharatian Association was organised on January 30, 2014. The office bearers of OBBA from outgoing Class XII were invested with portfolios and encouraged to keep the umbilical chord with alma mater alive.
Energy Conservation Day
Energy Conservation Day was celebrated on January 22, 2014. Children participated in painting competition and learnt about the importance of conservation of energy and alternative sources of energy.
ITC Spell Bee-‘INDIA SPELLS, 2014’
In an endeavour to weave the magic of words, the ITC Spell Bee 2014 was organised on 29 January, 2014, to sharpen the acumen for spellings.
Annual Exhibition–World Safari
Annual exhibition took all visitors and parents on a virtual World Safari on 17
December 2013. Students took up the role of Heads of Nations and made an emphatic
presentation about “My Country, My Pride” They enticed all guests with vivid description
of famous monuments of their country and extended a warm invitation to visit their
country by giving out respective country passports. Eminent guests, jury and parents
lauded the inspiration and motivation behind this initiative.
Health Checkup Camp
Interact club of the school collaborated with Dr K. K. Aggarwal’s Heart Care Foundation
to organize a free health check up camp for parents on 8 December 2013 in the school
premises. Renowned Cardiologist, Gynaecologist, Paedriatician, Ayurvedic, Homoeopathic
and orthopaedic specialists extended their free services to raise awareness about
healthy lifestyle. Interact club volunteers organised demonstrations of Cardio Pulmonary
Resuscitation Technique. Dr K.K.Aggarwal, President, Heart Care Foundation of India
congratulated school, students and volunteers.
The Teach is an initiative which promotes employability through Spoken English.
Volunteers were trained for student centered classroom. That has high Student Talking
Time (STT) and lower Teacher Talking Time (TTT). Teaching is done with the help
of various techniques such as miming, regalia, flashcards, audio help, monolingual
dictionary, drilling and elicitation.
The school in association with ‘Piramal Healthcare’, organised an activity called
‘Masti Ka Period’ on November 29, 2013. The children of classes III & IV and V took
part in fun games, quiz and activities. They also receive small gift boxes.
Queen's Baton Relay Games
Our school Band was chosen to lead the contingent of participating Nations at the
Queens Baton Relay Games organised British council to mark the arrival Queen’s Baton
in India for Common Wealth Games. Besides the sporting events, students participated

Visit To Rememberance Ceremony Of Nelson Mandela
Three students along with one teacher attended the remembrance ceremony of Nelson
Mandela on Friday 13, December 2013 at the India International Centre. A meeting
was organised by India international centre, Gandhi Peace Foundation and Working
Group on Alternative Strategies together with the High Commission of South Africa
to pay tribute to Nelson Mandela.
16th Annual Day
The school celebrated its 16th Annual Day with grandeur extraordinaire. The guests,
Mr. Vineet Joshi IAS, Chairman, CBSE and Padma Shree Dr. K. K. Aggrawal, President,
Heart Care Foundation of India applauded the school endeavours.The sublime musical
notes of the school orchestra–‘Eclectic-Elixir’ was followed by the incredible concert
of the school Marching Band. The Invocation Dance’ Sarvamangalam Panchtatvam’ abefitting
ode to Lord Ganesha captured the magnificent portrayals of the five pillars of Creation
through intricate dance gaits. The annual report presented by the school Principal,
Ms Suruchi Gandhi chronicled the triumphant saga of the magnificent year. It was
a moment of jubilation and pride when the School Principal was felicitated in a
glittering Citation Ceremony by members of the School Management, PTA, Staff and
the OBBA association for being conferred the prestigious State Teacher’s award,
this year. A state of tranquility and serenity accentuated the electrifying atmosphere
when the mellifluous expedition ‘la Joie-de-donner’ resonated in a divine chorus
in the praise of the moon. The presentation ‘Empyrean Odyssey-The Joy of Giving’
was a conscientious portrayal celebrating the cherished values of sacrifice and
compassion, while the senior ballet - Sphoorti, Samvedan, Spandan’ exemplified the
importance of Sports and fitness in our lives.
The school organised a Torch Relay on October 15, 2013 to commemorate the augmentation
of All India Inter Unit Sports Meet .The Principal apprised the school about mission
and vision behind the All India Sports Meet and urged the players to uphold the
honour and spirit of fairplay and sportsmanship. The torch was lit by Principal
and Physical education teachers and coaches. The Head Boy and Head Girl carried
the torch to sports captains of different teams in relay, which ended with a pledge
for fairplay in all events during forthcoming sports meet.
Model Common Wealth Games
To emphasize the importance of physical exercise in our daily routine, ‘Model common
wealth games’ was organized for students of classes III-V on October 31, 2013.Students
participated in various colourful races such as Hurdle Race, Relay Race and Kangaroo
race. The aim of the event was to make students familiarize with different games
of various countries besides teaching them the importance of goal setting.
Model Inclusive Commonwealth Games
The XXth edition of the Commonwealth Games is scheduled to be held in Glasgow, Scotland
in 2014. To mark the occasion of arrival of Queen's Baton relay in India, the British
Council, in association with Special Olympics Bharat organised a sporting extravaganza
at Chhatrasal Stadium on October 11, 2013 in which schools from all over Delhi representing
71 countries participated. Our school Band was chosen to lead the contingent of
participating Nations at the Model Inclusive Commonwealth Games. Besides the sporting
events, students participated in collage competition and put up a rich spectacle
of cultural performances depicting global diversity.
Inter-House Group Discussion
Unity House organised an Inter- House Group Discussion on “Faith & Religion” on
October 7, 2013.The discussion took off with the quotation, “Faith and Religion
are two sides of the same coin”. Each team expressed their opinions and supported
them with relevant examples. A lot of research had been done by the students.
BBPS Dwarka Model UN Conference’13
Third Model United Nations Conference was held on 9 October 2013 for class X. It
was a spectacular event with 250 participants from class X and XI. The simulation
included seven committees such as IAEA, Security Council, UNDP,UNODC, HRC , Ecosoc
and UNESCO with 91 countries. The Delegates provided concrete solutions in respective
committees even during the MODEL EMERGENCY situation in MUN. Another unique feature
of the conference was the simultaneous Press Conference of Committees which focused
on transparency of the decisions passed through consensus in the various committees.
The students were awarded Best Delegate and Best Position Paper in every committee.
Mock Evacuation Drill
An evacuation drill in the school premises was conducted on 5 October 2013.It was
carried out with an explicit exit plan. The students evacuated the classrooms immediately
after the hooter was sounded. This was followed by a live demonstration of the use
of the fire extinguishers and other fire prevention and mitigation measures. All
classes from VI to X along with the entire staff took part in the drill under the
supervision of Mr Bhatnagar and Mr Amit from the Delhi Fire Service department.
Spell Bee Quiz
Spell Bee Quiz was organized on October 4, 2013 for class 1 students. In each round,
the participants competed in numerous challenges like identifying the picture, fill
in the missing letters and jumbled words etc. All the students had exuberant time
learning with immense enthusiasm.
To promote excellence and holistic development, Dhoom a mega talent hunt show was
organized from August 1 to 8, 2013. The exquisite show featured an eclectic mélange
of activities such as Dance, Music, Art & Craft, Dramatics, Elocution, Mathematical
and Sporting prowess. Popular events like ‘Super Chef’ and ‘Cute Kidz’ saw enthused
participation of kids and parents alike. The week long activities were judged by
eminent jury who appreciated the initiative and confidence of the enterprising students
and lauded efforts of the school for nurturing talent.
INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY 2013
Ishita Jain (XI D) and Vaibhav Midha (XI D) presented paper on ‘Armed Conflicts’
on the occasion of ‘International Youth Day organised at United Nations Information
Centre on August 12, 2013, which was appreciated for its deep insight.
NATIONAL SPORTS DAY
The birth anniversary of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand was celebrated
as National Sports Day on August 29, 2013 with fervour and enthusiasm. The meet
was declared open by the Chief Guest, Mr Rameo James, a renowned hockey player and
coach. The programme included colourful welcome run , power pack of races in which
our young athletes participated with a great spirit. Taekwondo performance by Vaibhav
Bansal (VI-D ) was cynosure of all eyes.
TEACHERS APPRECIATION DAY
Teachers Appreciation Day was celebrated on September 7, 2013. The school Principal
congratulated the teachers for doing a commendable job and reiterated the pivotal
role played by teachers in moulding a child’s life, in touching a child’s heart
and soul with the alchemy of care and concern. The teachers were felicitated for
completing five years of exemplary service to the institution by members of the
P.T.A. The Principal was felicitated for winning Prestigious State Teachers Award
conferred by Chief Minister of Delhi, Mrs Sheila Dixit.
WALK FOR WATER
Growing urbanization and population has made water a scarce commodity. To make students
and locals aware about the need for water conservation, a ‘Walk for Water’ was organised
for students of class-X on May 14, 2013 in Matiala village. Students carried banners
highlighting the water crisis and raised slogans in support of water conservation.
A symbolic carriage of water for 2 km by a section of the students highlighted the
problems facing us in the near future, wherein long distances will have to be covered
to get water for drinking purposes. A special water testing Kit was carried to test
water samples from the village. Samples were tested on the spot for portability
and the results were shared with villagers. The walk generated enthusiasm and support
for proactive citizenship among students and local villages.
LEARNING FROM THE LEGEND
Our children experienced the inspiration and mysticism embodied by Ms Saroj Khan
when the Legend herself visited the school on May 23, 2013, to provide motivation
and mentoring to our promising dancers. The event commenced with ceremonial lamp
lighting and divine Invocation dance which exemplified precision and perfection.
The interactive session with the maestro was a deeply exhilarating and immensely
rewarding experience for our young performers. Ms Saroj Khan shared the nuances
of dancing and highly appreciated the school’s endeavour to promote the learning
of classical art forms. The programme was well attended by the members of PTA, parents,
teachers and students. The culmination of this dance show saw participation of hundreds
of participants of Dance Gurukul at Genesis Global School, Noida on June 30, 2013.
A career fair was hosted in the premises of the school on May 2, 2013 with a view
to provide our students with an opportunity to explore a plethora of career options
available after school. Children put forth several queries regarding various career
options which were suitably answered by subject experts.
To make the teaching learning process sonorous the school arranged for an exchange
program with U.K wherein Mr. Shaun Valentine from Brynteg C.P, School visited our
school for a week. Students of Class VI-B got an opportunity to have a vivacious
interaction with Mr. Shaun. Through the activity ‘Circle Time’ on April 9, 2013,
students narrated stories to Mr. Shaun which were greatly complimented by him. There
was a pedantic interactive session wherein questions poured from both the sides
eager to know each other’s culture, environment and even school life. He took some
stories of the students to be shown in his school.
Graduation Day for the Montessori was celebrated on March 30, 2013, to bid adieu
to the tiny toddlers from Montessori wing. The breathtaking and grand performances
befitted the celebrations to mark their progression to primary wing. The magnificent
programme commenced with the Chief Guest Dr UB N Rao and the school Principal, Ms
Suruchi Gandhi lighting the lamp.The array of cultural programmes comprising Ganesh
stuti, story dramatization, graduation day song and a special dance performance
‘Flavours of India’ held the audience spellbound. The young scholars were presented
Orientation Day was held on March 31, 2013, to acquaint the parents of Montessori
students with the school and to extend them a warm welcome into the Bal Bharati
family. The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed
by an immensely invigorating welcome address by the Principal. The enigmatic invocation
dance left the audience spell-bound. Dr Ravindran, the eminent educational psychologist,
was the special guest for the occasion. Dr Ravindran conducted an enriching and
informative interactive session with the parents that enlightened them about positive
parenting and the mutual responsibility parents and schools share in moulding the
best out of young children.
Winter Carnival was organised on warm winter morning of 8 December 2013.The school
wore a festive look and offered a bonanza of appetizing delicacies , fun rides ,
fashion fiesta and a wide array of entertainment opportunities . Visitors, parents
and students flocked the stalls which were full of enticing games and attractive
prizes. Raffle and Baby Show were show stealers of the day .School Chairman Sh K.
K. Khullar and Members of School Managing committee also graced the occasion and
congratulated the Principal for the success of the event.
Independence Day Celebrations and Investiture Ceremony
The school celebrated Independence Day and Investiture Ceremony on 14th August 2013.An
impressive Guard of Honour welcomed the renowned educationist, Mr. Kaushik, Education
Officer, Zone-21and Shri Shailendra Mohan, Spic Macay Coordinator who graced the
historic event to invest the members of the Prefectorial Board with badges of honour
and administer the oath of allegiance to their school and country.It was a defining
milestone that signaled the official beginning of the newly appointed Student Council
in the presence of the guests, parents and students as they pledged to uphold the
ethos of the school. The jubilant Independence Day Celebrations included a captivating
dance performance followed by an euphonic classical rendition which was appreciated

Rendezvous 2013, a multilingual Inter-School event was held on August 30, 2013.
The competition epitomized Global Connect Day wherein the confluence of three languages-
English, French and German was highlighted in which best schools of Delhi participated.
The event exhibited multilingual eloquence of participants in dramatization, conjuring
appealing advertisements to sell global destinations. Well illustrated travel brochures
and captivating folk tales created new benchmarks in creativity. Trophies and certificates
of appreciation were given to winners by eminent jury who lauded the efforts of
school in promoting modern foreign languages.
TECHQUEST – INTER SCHOOL EVENT
In an endeavor to provide to the inquisitive and brilliant minds, a platform to
nurture and showcase their technological prowess, the school organized Tech-Quest
on 7th May, 2013, in which more than 100 students from 17 schools participated.
The school Principal accompanied by the judges lit the ceremonial lamp of knowledge.
It was a grand celebration of novelty and ingenuity as the budding enthusiasts and
aspiring scientists commemorated technological breakthroughs through participation
in Events as Let’s C, Lights, Camera, Action, Robotics and a quiz based on IT. The
overall trophy was accorded to Mt. Carmel School, Dwarka. The awards earned by the
vanquishers were a testimony of their concerted efforts and significant achievements.
The judges appreciated the school initiative and reiterated that the event opened
novel vistas of tech- learning.
MOCK EVACUATION DRILL – DISASTER PREPAREDNESS
A fire drill was conducted in association with local fire department to make students
aware about the protocol to be followed in case of a fire break out.
A workshop was held for the students to deliberate upon major possible causes behind
a fire breakout. This was followed by an instant quiz and question answer session
for ensuring proper understanding amongst the students. Demonstrations regarding
fire, precautions, safety, dos and don’ts. Duties and roles of volunteers, who were
supposed to act as floor wardens, rescue team, fire extinguish team and first aid
team during the Mock Evacuation Drill.
INTER SCHOOL ROBOTICS CHALLENGE(IRC 2013)

Learning Solutions Pvt. Ltd. on January 24, 2013. Over 28 teams from 14 schools
of West Delhi participated in the event where students got an opportunity to create
unique Robotic designs. The event presented a creative amalgamation of Science and
Mathematics and its practical application in Robotics.
SUMMER CAMP 2013
Summer coaching camp was organised from May 20 to 31, 2013 in association with PTA.
Students were coached and trained in Badminton, Cricket, Skating, Basketball, Football
and Taekwondo under expert tutelage. Participants were given certificates of appreciation
for active involvement.
Teachers’ Day is that momentous event where students engage in unbridled capacity
to shower their love, adoration and respect on their teachers. The day was power
packed with sensational performances by the students. With respect and reverence,
the students had the teachers moving on to foot tapping dance they presented.
The students’ programme paved way to reliving a momentous journey – a success saga
of prominent accomplishments crafted with subtlety, care and love by the School
YOUTH EXCHANGE FOR NATIONAL INTEGRATION
The school hosted a student delegation from the frontier districts of Baramula
and Kupwara of Jammu & Kashmir on February 12, 2013.They were given a heart-warming
reception by our students who welcomed them by tying friendship-bands. Initial hesitation
gave way to warm smiles as students were spell bound by graceful classical dance
and soulful instrumental music rendition. The students from Kashmir presented Kashmiri
folk songs, poem and PowerPoint Presentation to acquaint the audience with the culture
of their school. The session culminated with joyous chorus of “Saare Jahan Se Achha”
and exchange of handcrafted mementos.
EDUCATION WITH A PURPOSE
Dr Kiran Bedi addressed the school students and teachers in a highly charged
and stimulating environment on the topic of ‘Analysing the role of school and home
in combating and preventing crime’ on February 7, 2013. In her speech, which was
replete with inspirational anecdotes, she urged students and teachers to take responsibility
and demonstrate personal leadership in character building by feeding intellect and
mind with positive thoughts, inspirational books and good company. She reposed faith
in the efforts of the school towards character building which is an essential prerequisite
for nation building.
With an aim to promote the rich and heterogeneous cultural tapestry of our country,
renowned Manipuri artists Shri Rajkumar Singhajit Singh and Smt. Charu Sija Mathur
graced the school on February 6, 2013 and regaled the young audiences with the most
spectacular dance performances. They introduced subtle nuances of Manipuri Dance
which is known for its graceful movements and its strong narrative and dramatic

MODEL UNITED NATIONS
The school hosted its second Model United Nations on January 30, 2013. The event
provided delegates an insight into the major issues faced by today’s world. The
students of class X formed four major committees of United Nations namely ECOSOC,
HRC, WTO and UNESCO representing 26 countries of the world. The BBPSMUN not only
encouraged the students to research but also helped in honing their public speaking
and decision making skills. Awards were given to Best Delegates in every committee
and for presenting Best Position Paper. The judges appreciated their in-depth knowledge
about world affairs and their ability to resolve conflict in democratic manner.
‘Fun-O-Mania’ was organised for classes I-V on February 4, 2013. The day began
with an exhilarating Band performance which was followed by Horse Riding, Taekwondo
