Co-Curricular Opportunities

COMPETITIONS
Development of integrated personality of child remains incomplete without cultivating appreciation of fine arts. A balanced growth of body and mind is ensured. Competitions at Inter-School, Inter-Class, Inter-House, Zonal and National level are held regularly to give opportunity to the children to develop  their innate potential as well as gain self confidence.

THE HOUSE SYSTEM
The school is divided into six houses; Equality, Amity, Freedom, Progress, Peace and Unity from the primary level. Each house has a Housemistress and an associate Housemistress. The main idea of the House System is to provide training in qualities of leadership, co-operation, mutual understanding and self reliance. Inter-House Competitions are organised for dramatics, elocution, quiz, recitation, debates, group songs, dance and other activities and the meritorious children are honoured.

WORK EXPERIENCE
Work experience activities form an inseparable part of the school curriculum. Children enthusiastically participate in activities like Art & Painting, Best out of Waste, Origami and Meal Planning.
                    

SOCIAL WELFARE-COMMUNITY SERVICE   
To foster qualities of compassion, selfless service and charity,
periodical visits are organised to orphanages and old age homes.

PREFECTORIAL BOARD
A prefectorial board has been constituted at the Primary and Secondary level to shoulder the responsibility of running the school administration. The Head Boy and the Head Girl along with other appointments, at each stage help in the maintenance of school discipline  and in organising various school programmes and activities.

BOOK WEEK
Book Week, which is an integral part of the time-table, encourages learning beyond text books. Competitions such as Book Discussion, Literary Quiz,  Symposium etc. earmark the Book Week.
                    

 NIE & PACE PROGRAMME
'The Times of India' and 'The Hindustan Times' projects have been introduced  to encourage students to read newspapers critically and make them  aware of the social, economic and political events taking place in the country and around the world. Various workshops are conducted to train the students in various disciplines.

SPECIAL ASSEMBLIES
All important days are celebrated to mark their significance in our day-to-day life. World Health Day, Mother's Day, World Population Day and  World Environment Day are observed to emphasize on the pivotal role of healthy life, the greatness of mothers, clean and pure environment, the impeccable progress of India nullified by the ever-increasing population. Senior Citizens Day, Gandhi Jayanti, World Food Day, Children's Day are celebrated with explicit enthusiasm. Besides the important days, all the festivals are celebrated with religious fervour.

TOURS / EXCURSIONS
In addition to excursions during the summer vacation and the autumn/winter breaks, educational tours and camps are organized, which besides providing recreation also inculcate qualities of leadership, self-reliance, discipline and a  sense of responsibility. The picnics and excursions into the lap of nature make the youngsters  sensitive and nature loving.  

SCHOOL FUNCTIONS                                                                                             

In order to apprise the students with the composite Indian Culture and its ancient heritage, important festivals are celebrated in the school. Every year Independence Day, Sports Day, Annual Day and Spring Carnival are  celebrated with great enthusiasm.

  • Vibrations

    Vibrations was a kaleidoscope of colours and cultures, which saw massive participation by over thirty leading schools of Delhi. The school was a hub of frenzied activity as over seven hundred participants vied with each other.The competitions not only provided students with an opportunity to showcase their talents but also a fertile ground for positive interaction and meaningful exchange.

     

  • Spic Macay

    The school stands resolved to resurrect and promote our rich composite cultural legacy and hosts Spic Macay programmes regularly to provide a platform to its students to understand and appreciate our lush cultural tapestry. The performing artist this year was Kathakali dance exponent Margi Vijaya Kumar, who rendered spell binding performance, unique in its beauty and pristine in its form. This was followed by an interactive session wherein the inquisitive budding danseuses of the school asked questions pertaining to the various poses and their manifestation.

     

  • Graduation Day

    Annual Graduation ceremony marked the stepping of our little stars from Montessori into the Primary Department. The young children received their graduation trophies from the Principal.

     

  • Independence And Investiture Day

    Independence and Investiture Day was held on August 13, 2008. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Brig. A. K. Gulati, recipient Vishisht Seva Medal. The programme was a pot-pourri of colours and cultures celebrating our Indianness. The school took this befitting day to invest its students with duties and responsibilities by giving them prefectorial appointments. Hearts swelled with pride as Brig. Gulati personally pinned badges onto each new appointment.

     

  • Orientation Day

    Orientation Day was held on March 29, 2008 to acquaint the new parents of Pre-School with the ethos of Bal Bharati.  The special guest for the occasion was Dr Aruna Broota, leading clinical psychologist and a recipient of numerous national and international awards. The interactive session was the highlight of the day as Dr Broota cleared many misconceptions and provided tips for positive parenting.

 

  • Spring Carnival

     Spring Carnival was celebrated on February 3, 2008. The hallowed portals of the school threw an open invitation to one and all to partake in the festivities.

    • Mouth-watering food items, adventure sports including Zorbing Ball and Rapelling, fun games to win all hearts and a host of other stalls clamoured for attention.

    • The Baby Show emerged as a crowd puller with hosts of babies vying to outdo each other to take away alluring prizes. Dhoom 2008 gave a platform to young talents.

    • Another attraction was the live performance by the ‘Ekam Satyam’ band with its foot tapping renditions that struck a chord with everyone.

     

  • Grandparents Day

    Grandparents Day was hosted on May 9, 2008. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr Nirmal Kumar, H.O.D.(Sanskrit), Bharti College. The enthusiastic grandparents loved to be catapulted to the forefront and enjoyed every bit the attention being given to them. 

     

  • Summer Camp

    Summer Camp 2008 saw enthusiastic participation by scores of students vying to acquire some new skills, enhance their aesthetic side and unwind amidst a pool of activities. Theatre activities by professionals from NSD, counselling sessions, games, creative pursuits such as clay modelling, art and craft and the peppy bhangra aerobics infused a new lease of life into the summer camp. Talking Rich sessions by renowned Radio Jockey Shamshir Rai Luthra further embellished the camp. Other activities included Western Dance (basics of Jazz, Salsa, Jive and Hip-Hop) and training in Casio, Harmonium, Tabla,Dholak, Nal,Kongo, Sitar, Violin, Guitar, Spanish Hawain, Synthesizer, Sarod and Xylophone etc. Adventure Sports like Artificial Wall Climbing, Artificial River Crossing and Commando net were conducted in association with Rambler’s Club, the apex body for organizing Mountaineering and Climbing activities in India.

  •  Sportscape

    Sports extravaganza ‘Sportscape’ was indeed a treat for the participants and the spectators alike. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr. Gyan Prakash Gautam, Former Advisor (Sports), CBSE. Mr. Prem Singh, Deputy Director of Education presided over the function. There were a series of innovative races for the little children to have fun while on the run. In a stunning display of agility, alacrity and symphony, the students stole hearts by presenting the various drills to perfection.

     

  • Satrarambh

    The staff and students embarked on the new session in the right spirit by invoking divine benediction. The fragrance of flowers and incense sticks hung in the air and ushered the new session while the incantation of mantras charged the atmosphere with positive vibes. Each heart prayed and wished that the coming session may prove to be even more fruitful and productive than the previous one. 

        

  • Cultural Evening

    Cultural Evening on March 30, 2008 in association with PTA provided a platform for healthy and meaningful interaction between the teachers and the parents. The programme was a mélange of exquisite ghazals, soulful music, foot tapping dance numbers and bouts of laughter. The special Guest for the day was Mr Arun Gemini, a renowned poet who tickled everyone’s funny bone and left subtle messages.

     

  • Book Fair

    To initiate good reading habits among its children, the school organized a Book Fair and an informal tête-à-tête session with a renowned cartoonist Mr Ajeet Narayanan.

  •  Teachers’ Day

    Teachers’ Day was celebrated on September 5, 2008. Teachers who completed five years of service were felicitated. A wide range of activities were impeccably executed by students. On this special occasion the Principal felicitated teachers who outshone with meritorious services. Also a one act play on the theme ‘Education’ was presented by NSD professionals.

    Special assemblies on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Janmashtmi, Dussehra, Gandhi Jayanti, Children’s Day, Republic Day, Independence Day, Diwali further added glitter and charm.
